Blackberry Sangria

9 August 2011
  • 4 cups blackberries, divided
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 bottles of white wine
  • 1 cup DPF blackberry flavored vodka (or plain cognac, if necessary)
  • 3 cups sliced peaches
  • 2 limes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice
1. In a medium non-reactive saucepan over medium high heat, combine 2 cups blackberries with sugar, water and a dash of salt. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for ten minutes – stirring occasionally.  Remove from stove and allow to slightly cool, and strain through a colander. Discard berries and allow syrup to cool completetly.
2. In a large pitcher, combine remaining ingredients and blackberry syrup.  Refrigerate overnight, then serve over ice.
*NOTE: If you need a little more sweetness, add a touch of Sprite. If it’s too tart or you just want bubbles, add soda water.

Blueberry Martini

8 August 2011
  • 1/4 cup DPF Blueberry Vodka
  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice (I like to use the tart, pure cranberry juice…but it’s TART)
  • splash of lemon juice
  • 1 tbs. honey
Add about 1 cup ice to a cocktail shaker, and top with all ingredients.  Shake vigorously, and strain into martini glasses.  Garnish with speared blueberries if desired!
